The EuroHockey Institute project partners were hosted by the International Hockey Federation (FIH) recently with a focus on how best to support the global impact of hockey development. This took in the partnership work between the EuroHockey Institute and the FIH Academy to serve all hockey member national associations.
Part of the work covered included a look at the European Qualification Framework which was presented by Nathan Kipp, KNHB (Dutch Hockey). Together with representatives from Belgium, Slovenia, Swiss and German Hockey Federations and Hockey Magic, they clarified steps to ensure that outcome learnings across all nations could be monitored; this will be launched together between all parties in mid-2023.
The second working group was joined by FIH and EHF Communications managers with a focus on the launch of the EuroHockey Institute in August 202. This will happen at the EuroHockey General Assembly in Mönchengladbach, Germany, ahead of the first days of the EuroHockey Championships. Tom Pedersen Smith (Head of National Associations, EHF) thanked the FIH colleagues Andre Oliveira Mike Joyce and Nicholas Maingot for their time and input.
“It is always positive to surround yourselves with people who want to develop hockey. I look forward to our next meeting in Antwerp, hosted by Belgium Hockey in January.”
The group also had time to visit the Olympic Museum and where inspired by the ethos of the growth of the Olympic values and spirit. Karine Ven, Board member of Swiss Hockey, said of the meeting: “It was an honour to host this next step in the exciting process of establishing the Eurohockey Institute, bringing together enthusiastic and motivated partners at the Home of Hockey, in the Olympic Capital.”
